Ready

Outsmart Competitors in 4 Steps

1

Enter Your Domain

Add your domain in the "Your Website" field. Then add 1 to 3 competitor domains you want to compare against. Use the quick examples to get started instantly.

2

Run the Analysis

The tool analyses all domains simultaneously, fetching each page and extracting real on-page SEO signals, title, meta description, headings, word count, images, links, schema, Open Graph and HTTPS.

3

Compare Side by Side

See every on-page signal in a colour-coded table. Green highlights the winner for each metric, so content and technical gaps are instantly obvious.

4

Act on the Gaps

Where a competitor beats you, longer content, more headings, schema you're missing, images without alt text, that is your content gap and your highest-priority on-page fixes.

What is competitor analysis in SEO?

SEO competitor analysis is working out which websites are winning the searches you want, and what they are winning them with. A competitor analysis tool pulls each domain's ranking data from a search index and lines them up side by side, so you can see who ranks for more, who gets more traffic and where the gap is.

Your SEO competitors are often not your business competitors. A local firm competes commercially with the firm down the road, but in search it is losing to a national directory and a blog. Both show up here. That surprise is usually the most useful thing the tool tells you.

Traffic numbers are estimates, modelled from ranking position and search volume. Nobody outside a company can see its real analytics. Treat them as a way to compare, not as fact.

Being straight with you: if competitor research is a weekly part of your job, buy Semrush or Ahrefs. They are worth the money and I use them. This tool exists for the moment before that, when you need to know whether you are even in the same league as the sites you are chasing but cannot yet justify a subscription to prove it.

Use Competitor Data Like a Pro SEO

🎯

Target the Keyword Gap First

Keyword gaps are your fastest path to traffic growth. Competitors have already proven these terms convert, you just need better content. Prioritise high-volume gaps where competitors rank 4 to 15, because a single good piece can jump you straight to page one.

🔗

Reverse-Engineer Their Links

If a competitor has significantly more referring domains than you, that's your link-building target. Find where their best links come from using Ahrefs or Semrush, then approach those same publications with your own angle, a strategy called link gap analysis.

📊

Track Changes Over Time

Run this analysis monthly. Export the CSV each time and compare, are your competitors growing faster than you? Which metrics are you closing the gap on? SEO is a race, not a sprint. Consistent monitoring turns competitor data into a strategic roadmap.

How Are Metrics Estimated?

Competitor metrics are modelled estimates based on publicly observable signals, domain age, backlink profiles, indexed page counts, SERP visibility patterns and social presence indicators. Organic traffic is estimated using keyword rankings multiplied by average CTR curves at each position. Keyword counts reflect estimated unique organic terms the domain ranks for in the top 100 results. Domain Authority follows Moz's scoring methodology. These estimates are directional, use them to identify relative strengths, gaps and opportunities. For live, real-time data cross-reference with Ahrefs, Semrush or Google Search Console for your own domain.

A Free Competitor Research Tool Built From Real Campaigns

This free competitor analysis tool compares your website against up to three rivals online, using real organic search data rather than guesswork. You get organic keyword counts, estimated traffic and how many terms each domain holds at position one and inside the top ten, shown side by side. It also surfaces the domains competing with you that you did not think to enter. No account, nothing to install.

Three rivals plus your own site is the right number to start with. Four domains side by side stay readable, and beyond that the table turns into noise you cannot act on. Pick the two or three that show up most often for the terms you care about, run them, then swap in others on a second pass. The keyword counts and traffic estimates lined up together give you a rough share of voice, which competitor owns more of the search real estate in your space, without paying for a dedicated tool. Read those numbers as a relative gap between domains, not as an exact figure for any one of them. To find which individual pages are pulling a rival's traffic, this tool is the wrong lens, because it compares whole domains. Take the terms where they lead into the keyword research tool and the pages that rank for those terms are the ones to study.

The first run is usually humbling, and that is the point. Across 500+ projects the commonest reaction I see is a founder discovering their real search competitor is not the rival they obsess over. It is a directory, an aggregator or a blog that quietly owns the terms they want. You cannot out-rank someone you have not noticed. So enter the two or three names you already have in mind, then look hard at the list of other domains the tool returns. That list is the useful half.

Once you know the right two or three rivals, the work splits into gaps. A keyword gap is the set of terms they rank for and you do not, a backlink gap is the sites that link to them and not to you, the qualified outreach list that tools like Ahrefs surface through Link Intersect, and a content gap is the depth or angle their page has that yours lacks. In 2026 there is a fourth, the AI citation gap, the facts a page fails to state that make ChatGPT and AI Overviews quote a competitor instead. Benchmark against three to five domains, not one, and re-run every three to six months, because the rival that was harmless last quarter may have grown into the one taking your traffic.

Once you know who you are actually fighting, work out what to fight with. Find the terms worth chasing with the free keyword research tool, see who links to them with the free backlink checker, and the rest are in the free SEO tools hub.

Where Does the Competitor Data Come From?

Rankings come from a live search index queried through our own server, for the country you select. Organic keywords is a real count of the terms each domain ranks for in the top 100. Position buckets are real counts too. Estimated traffic is exactly that, an estimate modelled from ranking position and search volume, because nobody outside a company can see its analytics. Every tool in this category models it, including Semrush and Ahrefs. Their numbers will differ from these because the models differ. Use traffic to compare domains against each other rather than as an absolute figure. Results are cached for 24 hours.

SEO Competitor Analysis FAQ

Common questions about this free tool, answered clearly.

What does this competitor tool compare?

It compares your page against competitors on real on-page signals, the title and meta, heading counts, word count, images and alt text, internal and external links, schema, Open Graph and HTTPS. It shows where you lead and where you trail.

Does it show competitor traffic or backlinks?

No. That is deliberate. It reads only what is visible on the page, so the comparison is accurate and honest. Traffic and backlink estimates need a paid database and are often rough guesses.

How do I use the results?

Look for the gaps. If competitors have deeper content, more internal links or schema you are missing, those are your quickest wins. Fix the on-page basics before chasing links.

Is this a free alternative to Semrush competitor analysis?

For the core question, yes. It shows you who ranks for more, roughly how much traffic each domain gets and who else is competing, with no account and nothing to pay. Semrush and Ahrefs go much further, showing the exact keywords a rival beats you on, historical trends, their backlinks and paid campaigns, all from one dashboard. If competitor research is a weekly part of your job, buy one of them. This tool is for the point before that.

Can I do competitor analysis for free online without signing up?

Yes. Enter your domain and up to three rivals, and this competitor analysis tool runs online in your browser with no account, no card and no trial. Results are cached for 24 hours, so checking the same set of domains again the same day returns instantly.

How accurate are the traffic estimates?

They are estimates and should be read as such. Traffic is modelled from ranking positions and search volume, because nobody outside a company can see its real analytics. Semrush, Ahrefs and every other tool in this category model it too, which is why their numbers disagree with each other. The keyword counts and position data are real. Use traffic to compare domains against one another, not as a fact about any single one.

Why Hire Me to Beat Your Competitors

This free tool shows you the gap. If you would rather have someone close it, here are a few honest reasons businesses hire me as their SEO and digital marketing consultant in India.

The Right Competitors, Not the Obvious Ones

The rival you worry about is often not the one taking your traffic. I find who actually owns your terms, which is frequently a directory or a blog nobody in the room had mentioned.

Hands-On, Not Just Oversight

I started as a technical SEO trainee, not in a management seat, and I still do the competitor research myself. You get direct expertise, not a deck built by someone junior.

I Built This Tool Myself

The competitor analyzer you just used, I designed it, along with 22 other free SEO tools on this site. It is a direct look at how I size up a market before you ever become a client.

Gaps You Can Actually Win

Knowing a competitor has 400,000 keywords is not a plan. I find the handful you could realistically take from them in the next quarter, and ignore the rest.

Direct Line to Me

Messages get a reply within 24 hours on business days, and WhatsApp is the fastest way to reach me for anything urgent. You are not waiting in a support queue.

Built for Search and AI

Your competition now includes whatever ChatGPT and AI Overviews cite instead of linking to you. I track that alongside the traditional rankings, because both decide whether anyone finds you.
