Fill in your site name, a summary and your key links. The spec-compliant llms.txt builds live on the right.
URL | Title | Description, or just a URL and the title is guessed.## Optional./llms.txtEnter your site name and a one-line summary, plus an optional sentence of context. This becomes the heading and blockquote at the top of the file.
Paste the URLs of your most important pages, one per line, with an optional title and description. Add a second batch to the Optional section for secondary pages.
Copy or download the file as llms.txt, then upload it to the root of your site so it lives at your-domain.com/llms.txt.
An llms.txt file is a short markdown file, proposed by Jeremy Howard of Answer.AI, that sits at the root of your site and hands AI tools a clean, curated guide to your best content. As assistants like ChatGPT, Claude and Perplexity increasingly answer questions about businesses directly, this file is a low-effort way to shape what they understand about you, without them having to parse a page full of navigation, ads and scripts.
The whole spec is deliberately tiny. The file starts with an H1 that names your site, then a blockquote with a one-line summary, then optional lines of extra context. After that come H2 sections, each holding a simple markdown list of links in the form of a title, a URL and a short description. There is also an Optional section for secondary links an assistant can skip when it is short on context. There is no XML, no schema and no validation step, so a basic markdown parser can read it and walk the structure.
It is worth being clear-eyed about it. No major AI engine has confirmed that llms.txt affects ranking, and Google says no special AI file is needed for AI Overviews, so this is not a magic switch. What it is is cheap, tiny and already read by a growing set of AI tools, which makes it a sensible thing to ship. Build your file here, then set your AI crawler rules with the robots.txt generator, list your pages with the sitemap generator, or explore all the free SEO tools.
Three files, three jobs. llms.txt is the new, AI-facing one.
Sets crawl permissions, telling search and AI bots which paths they may or may not fetch. It controls access, not content.
Lists every canonical URL so search engines can discover them all. It is a complete machine list, not a curated guide.
A short markdown index written for AI tools, pointing to your best pages with a summary. It is a guide, not a full list.
This is a guide, not a sitemap. Include only the pages you want an AI to lean on, and add a clear one-line description to each so it knows what the page is for.
The blockquote summary is the line an assistant is most likely to repeat. Make it a crisp, accurate sentence about who you are and what you offer.
Refresh the file when you add key pages or change your positioning. A stale llms.txt describes an old version of your business to every AI that reads it.
This free llms.txt generator builds a spec-compliant file live as you type, with your site name, summary, curated links and an optional secondary section, ready to copy or download. There is no sign-up, no upload and no limit.
The way people find businesses is shifting fast. Over 17+ years across 500+ projects I have watched search move from ten blue links toward AI answers, and clients increasingly ask how an assistant describes their brand. Shipping a clean llms.txt is one of the few concrete things you can do today to steer that, alongside solid content and structured data, so I built the file I wanted for my own site into a tool anyone can use.
It runs entirely in your browser, so your site details never leave the page. Build your file here, then set crawler rules with the robots.txt generator, or explore all the free SEO tools.
An llms.txt file is a small markdown file you place at the root of your site, at /llms.txt, that gives AI tools a clean, curated map of your most important pages. It was proposed by Jeremy Howard of Answer.AI and follows a simple structure, a site name, a one-line summary and lists of links with short descriptions. The idea is that an assistant like ChatGPT or Perplexity can read it and understand your site without wading through raw HTML.
Yes. The file is built entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded to a server. Your site details and links stay on your own machine, and the tool keeps working even with no internet once the page has loaded.
At the root of your domain, so it lives at example.com/llms.txt, the same place as robots.txt. Serve it as plain markdown text with UTF-8 encoding. For a large site you can also place a file under a subpath to cover just the pages beneath it.
It is not required and no major AI engine has confirmed it affects ranking, and Google has said no special AI file is needed for AI Overviews. That said, the file is tiny and cheap to ship, several AI tools already read it, and it is a low-risk way to shape how assistants describe your site, so many teams add one anyway.
They solve different jobs. Robots.txt sets crawl permissions, sitemap.xml lists every canonical URL for search engines, and llms.txt offers a short, curated markdown index written for AI tools. It is a guide to your best content, not a full list, so you include only the pages that matter most.
It is a companion file that holds the full content of your documentation or key pages as one long markdown file, rather than just links. Where llms.txt is a lightweight index, llms-full.txt gives an AI the complete text in one fetch. This tool builds the index file, which is the one most sites start with.
This free tool formats your text. If you would rather have your content written or rewritten to read clearly and rank, here are a few honest reasons businesses hire me as their SEO and content consultant in India.
The right length and the right keywords are not opposites. I write content that covers a topic fully and targets the right terms, so it is easy for people to read and easy for Google and AI to understand.
I started as a technical SEO trainee, not in a management seat, and I still write and edit the content myself. You get direct expertise, not a brief handed off to a junior writer.
The llms.txt generator you just used, I built it, along with the other free SEO tools on this site. It is a direct look at how I think about clear content before you ever become a client.
AI drafts read stiff and generic. I edit content so it reads naturally at the right level, the kind of clear, human writing that keeps readers engaged and gets quoted in AI answers.
Messages get a reply within 24 hours on business days, and WhatsApp is the fastest way to reach me for anything urgent. You are not waiting in a support queue.
Content length is one piece. Keyword research, on-page SEO and technical health all sit with one person who understands how they connect, so clear writing also becomes ranking writing.
"Chirag rewrote our blog to read at a grade 8 level without dumbing it down. Time on page went up, bounce rate dropped and rankings followed. He makes complex topics simple."
"Our content was dense and technical and nobody finished reading it. Chirag simplified everything and our engagement metrics transformed. His 17+ years of experience really shows."
"We used Chirag's free tools, then had him edit our whole site. Clear, engaging copy that actually converts. Practical, no fluff, real value."
