Google Index Checker

0 URLs
This builds the searches for you. If a page shows in its site: result it is indexed. Search Console is the authoritative source for sites you own.

Check in 3 Steps

1

Paste Your URLs

Drop one URL per line, a single page or a whole list from your sitemap. The tool builds a check link for each as you type.

2

Run the Check

Click a page's site: link to see it in Google, or its Inspect link to open Search Console. If the page shows in the site: result, it is indexed.

3

Fix and Recrawl

For anything not indexed, clear the blocker, then use Request Indexing in Search Console to push the page into Google's crawl queue.

How Index Checking Works

A page only earns organic traffic once Google has indexed it, which means the page is stored in Google's index and can be shown in search results. Being crawled is not the same thing, since Google can visit a page and still decide not to index it if it looks thin, duplicate or blocked. Checking index status is how you catch pages that are quietly missing from search, which is money left on the table.

There are two honest ways to check, and this tool sets up both for you. The first is the site: search. Type site: followed by a URL into Google and it shows only that address, so if the page appears it is indexed. It is fast and works for any URL, even ones you do not own, but the operator has known gaps and can be throttled, so read it as a strong signal rather than gospel. A browser cannot query Google's index on its own, which is why the tool opens the real search for you instead of pretending to know.

The second way is the authoritative one. For a site you have verified in Google Search Console, the URL Inspection tool reports indexed, not indexed or excluded, with the exact reason, straight from Google. This tool links you to it for every URL. Use the site: check for a quick read across many pages, and Search Console when you need the definitive answer and the reason behind it. Once you know what is missing, tidy the page with the meta tag generator, confirm the robots rules with the robots.txt generator, or explore all the free SEO tools.

Why a Page Is Not Indexed

The usual reasons a URL never makes it into Google.

Blocked

A noindex tag, a robots.txt disallow, or a page that returns an error instead of a 200 all stop indexing. These are quick to spot and fix.

Duplicate or thin

A canonical tag pointing elsewhere, or content Google sees as thin or duplicate, means the page is crawled but left out of the index.

Not found yet

A brand-new page with few internal links may simply not be crawled yet. Add it to your sitemap and link to it from strong pages.

Get Pages Indexed

Trust Search Console

The site: check is a quick signal, but the URL Inspection tool tells you the exact status and why a page is excluded. For your own site, that is the answer to act on.

Compare to your sitemap

Run site: on the whole domain and compare the rough count to the pages in your sitemap. A big gap means important URLs are missing and worth chasing.

Link to orphan pages

Pages with no internal links are the ones Google misses most. Link a stranded page from a strong, relevant page and it usually gets crawled and indexed.

Built From Real Client Work

This free Google index checker builds a site: search and a Search Console inspection link for every URL you paste, so you can confirm index status in one click across a whole list. There is no sign-up, no upload and no limit on how many URLs you can check.

Missing pages are one of the quietest ways SEO underperforms. Over 17+ years across 500+ projects I have found whole product categories left out of the index after a migration, blog posts sitting uncrawled for weeks with no internal links, and a noindex tag accidentally shipped across a template. A fast way to check a batch of URLs, then confirm the reason in Search Console, turns a hidden problem into a two-minute fix.

It runs entirely in your browser, so your URL list never leaves the page. Check your pages here, then fix the blockers with the robots.txt generator, or explore all the free SEO tools.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does this Google index checker work?

It builds the exact searches you would run by hand. For every URL you paste, it creates a Google site: search link and a Search Console URL Inspection link. A browser cannot read Google's index directly, so instead of guessing, this opens the real check in one click. If the page appears in its site: result, Google has indexed it.

Is my data private and safe to use here?

Yes. The links are built entirely in your browser and nothing is uploaded to a server. Your list of URLs stays on your own machine, and the tool keeps working even with no internet once the page has loaded, though the checks themselves open Google in a new tab.

What does the site: search actually tell me?

Searching site: followed by a URL asks Google to show only that address. If it appears, the page is in the index. If nothing shows, it is very likely not indexed. The site: operator has known gaps and can be throttled, so treat it as a fast signal rather than a perfect answer.

What is the most reliable way to check indexing?

For a site you own, the Google Search Console URL Inspection tool is the authoritative source. It reports indexed, not indexed or excluded, with the exact reason, straight from Google's index. This tool links you to it for each URL. Search Console allows up to two thousand inspections per property per day.

Why is my page not indexed?

Common reasons are a noindex tag, a block in robots.txt, a page that returns an error instead of a 200, a canonical tag pointing elsewhere, thin or duplicate content Google chose not to index, or simply a new page Google has not crawled yet. Fix the blocker first, then ask Google to recrawl.

How do I get a page indexed faster?

Open the URL Inspection tool in Search Console and click Request Indexing to add the page to the priority crawl queue. Make sure it returns a 200, carries no noindex, sits in your sitemap and is linked from strong internal pages. Requesting speeds discovery but will not force indexing of thin or duplicate content.

Why Hire Me to Sharpen Your Content

This free tool formats your text. If you would rather have your content written or rewritten to read clearly and rank, here are a few honest reasons businesses hire me as their SEO and content consultant in India.

Clear Writing That Still Ranks

The right length and the right keywords are not opposites. I write content that covers a topic fully and targets the right terms, so it is easy for people to read and easy for Google and AI to understand.

Hands-On, Not Just Oversight

I started as a technical SEO trainee, not in a management seat, and I still write and edit the content myself. You get direct expertise, not a brief handed off to a junior writer.

I Built This Checker Myself

The Google index checker you just used, I built it, along with the other free SEO tools on this site. It is a direct look at how I think about clear content before you ever become a client.

Human Content in an AI World

AI drafts read stiff and generic. I edit content so it reads naturally at the right level, the kind of clear, human writing that keeps readers engaged and gets quoted in AI answers.

Direct Line to Me

Messages get a reply within 24 hours on business days, and WhatsApp is the fastest way to reach me for anything urgent. You are not waiting in a support queue.

Content Plus the Full Picture

Content length is one piece. Keyword research, on-page SEO and technical health all sit with one person who understands how they connect, so clear writing also becomes ranking writing.
